6. Apparently, the band Cold Kingdom just can’t catch a break. Last episode we discussed how 33k worth of gear and their trailer was stolen, now someone has damaged their van. The following was posted on their Facebook page: “Someone from the povs show Friday night driving a silver alero just sideswiped the drivers side of our van and drove off. If ANYONE has any information, let us know immediately.”
They later clarified that it was a woman driver and she actually backed into the van, damaging her rear tail light, then sped off and jumped a curb.
7. Local heroes(?) Gryzor have announced that their drummer – ‘Dirty Steve’ – has decided to leave the band. This was their announcement from their Facebook page:
“As some of you may have heard, Dirty Steve has decided to call it a day after our show on Friday. Whether it was Ryan’s breakfast burrito coming back to haunt during practice or the overload of women throwing themselves at our shows, he made up his mind. We tried propositioning him but only sped up his intended exit in the end. We wish him well on the hunt and the blood of his enemies to grace the earth… In the meantime we need to figure out how to build a drummer out of glowsticks and a thermos not unlike a wire cage surogant biologists use.”
8. ANTISTAR, an American Rock band originated out of the backwoods of Somerset, Wisconsin have released the first track of of their upcoming EP that we don’t have the title for yet titled ‘The Pluto Encounter’ and have a lyric video available on YouTube and we’ll link in our show notes.
ANTISTAR is a direct representation on the state of America. Their music bleeds with magnetic fascination of dreams, the risks of losing oneself to terrible failures, & the bright and dark layers of consciousness. Each member brings a pretty packed resume with past musical endeavors. Our ascendancy springs from endless sources which we have fused and wedded unnatural styles into our own thing. Welcome to the new Heavy.
If you have any news you’d like to share regarding your band please email us at news@dotwpod.com

Track by Track: Iron Maiden’s book of Souls:
The Book of Souls is the sixteenth studio album by English heavy metal band Iron Maiden, released on 4 September 2015. It is the band’s first studio double album, and therefore also their longest to date, with a total length of 92 minutes. The album’s launch and its supporting tour were delayed to allow vocalist Bruce Dickinson time to recover from treatment which he received in early 2015 to remove a cancerous tumour.
The album was produced by long-time Iron Maiden collaborator Kevin Shirley and recorded at Guillaume Tell Studios, Paris from September to December 2014, which they had previously used for 2000’s Brave New World. The band wrote and immediately recorded many tracks in the studio, resulting in a spontaneous live feel. The first song to be released from the album, “Speed of Light”, was issued as a music video on 14 August, while simultaneously made available as a digital download and CD single exclusive to Best Buy. In addition to being their longest studio record, it also contains the band’s longest song, “Empire of the Clouds”, at 18 minutes in length. While not a concept album, references to the soul and mortality are prominent, realised in the Maya-themed cover artwork, created by Mark Wilkinson.
The record was a critical and commercial success, receiving positive reviews and topping the album charts in 24 countries. It earned the band their fifth UK No. 1, following 1982’s The Number of the Beast, 1988’s Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, 1992’s Fear of the Dark and 2010’s The Final Frontier. In the US, it matched The Final Frontier’s success on the Billboard 200, repeating the group’s highest placement at no. 4. It also marks the longest gap between studio releases in the group’s entire career; at five years, following The Final Frontier.

6 Things We Learned From The New Slipknot Video
They Love A Tease
“Good news everyone, there’s a new Slipknot video!” was the edited pre-watershed cry heard across the Hammer office at 6pm yesterday. As we rushed to our screens to see what the Knot’s new masks look like or even find out who the new drummer is, it was not to be. They’re still holding out on us the cheeky gits. That being said, the song is still a bloody belter.
Goats Are Back
Or should that be ‘Baaaaaack’? No, because that’s rubbish. Nevertheless the iconic farm animal often associated Slipknot makes a welcome appearance – albeit in a coffin. Admittedly the goat hasn’t really been seen since the Iowa album cover and briefly in the Left Behind video, so perhaps this means they’re returning to their darker roots? Or are mad for goat’s cheese.
They’re Keeping It Creepy
It’s no secret that Clown’s creative mind has long left the realm of sunshine and rainbows, and now firmly resides in the darkest corners of a disease-ridden abyss. As such, the video for The Negative One looks like a montage from a horror flick in which a woman descends into madness after finding her goat husband dead (or something). We’re guessing there’s a deeper meaning there…
Metaphors Are Awesome
As we just said above, there’s obviously something deeper going on in the video. The juxtaposition between a woman painted wholly in black and another dressed solely in white ain’t a coincidence – could one of these women represent The Negative One? Also, the dead goat in a coffin being dressed in beads and flowers – what does that mean? Are the old Slipknot dead? Are we witnessing the rebirth? Or are two ladies of interesting attire just having a laugh with a dead goat? Hmm…
Someone Has A Mouth Fixation
Speaking of the women in the video, a lot of attention is directed towards their mouths. Whether it’s the Joker-esque smudged lipstick of the girl in white (who spits baked bean juice everywhere), or the woman in black who won’t stop stroking her face and pulling her lips down – somebody, somewhere likes a bit of tooth and gum.
They Haven’t Paid The Electricity Bill
If there’s one thing you notice about the The Negative One video, it’s that it’s dark. There’s a lot of blues and blacks keeping the corners dark and rooms shrouded in mystery. There’s so many candles lying about it’s like holding a séance during a 100th birthday celebration. The only electric light comes from a strip light that illuminates a makeshift Saw set. Surely someone could have found a lamp somewhere?
